Short Description:

The Plasma Longitudinal & Circumferential Seam Welding System is normally used to weld stainless steel and carbon steel with wall thickness from 3mm -12mm. This system is capable of welding both longitudinal and circumferential seam of cylinder. The plasma welding process is the key of this system, for the plate with thickness under 10mm no bevel is required for full penetration. Usually we select certain model of column and boom, rotators, positioner together with plasma welding powersource to integrate an whole system. The system is modular designed to fulfill customers’ requirements.

Plasma welding is a technique of welding in which a concentrated heat source penetrates completely through a work-piece forming a hole at the leading edge of the molten weld metal. As the heat source progresses, the molten metal fills in behind the hole to form the weld bead. A keyhole effect is achieved through right selection of current, nozzle orifice diameter and travel speed, which create a forceful plasma jet to penetrate completely through the work piece. Plasma jet in no case should expel the molten metal from the joint. The major advantages of keyhole technique are the ability to penetrate rapidly through relatively thick root sections and to produce a uniform under bead without mechanical backing.  As the weld progresses, base metal ahead the keyhole melts, flow around the same solidifies and forms the weld bead.

Shielding gas (95%Ar+5%H2) and plasma gas (99.99%Ar) on stainless welding; shielding gas and plasma gas both use industrial high purity Argon on titanium welding.
